Targets
The New Zealand Post Group is committed to action on corporate responsibility and holds itself accountable for constantly achieving improvements in how we operate. A key way to ensure continuing progress is to set concrete targets and measure and report on progress against these targets.
High level targets include:
- Greenhouse gas (GHG/CO2) emissions: To reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12% between 2008 and 2012.
- Fuel consumption: Our aim is to reduce fuel consumption (measured in litres per kilometre) by a total of 8% by 2010 from our baseline result of June 2008. We're currently tracking at around 3%.
- Vehicle emissions: Express Couriers Ltd aims to have its entire heavy vehicle fleet at Euro 4 Engine Standard by 2015 and its entire fork hoist fleet fitted with emission filters by 2013.
- Energy consumption: By 2011 the New Zealand Post Group is looking to have reduced its energy consumption by 15% against its baseline year set in 2007/08.
- Corporate Responsibility rating: Our target is to increase New Zealand Post Group's rating on the St James Ethics Centre international Corporate Responsibility Index from 58% in 2008 to 70% for 2009 and 80% in 2010. The Group's score in 2008 was 68.12%*.
