New Zealand Post will this evening officially re-open the Queenstown PostShop which has moved back to its original location at 13 Camp Street after two years.
Group Manager, Retail, Michelle van Gaalen says the PostShop has been located across Horne Creek for the past two years while the Post Office Precinct was developed by Ngai Tahu.
"The building in which we have just moved to is aptly named Te Ahi which means refuge point.
"We hope the people who visit the PostShop in the Te Ahi building will find a welcoming environment with a new-look interior design which provides a relaxing and comfortable place for people to carry out their PostShop business," said Ms van Gaalen.
New Zealand Post occupied the Post Office Precinct site from 1937 to 2007.
Queenstown's is the first PostShop in the South Island to feature the new PostShop interior design which is being progressively rolled out to New Zealand Post’s network of more than 300 PostShops nationwide.
"Designed by Kiwis and built by Kiwis, the new layout has been designed with customers in mind to ensure an easier, more efficient and pleasant shopping experience.
"It features New Zealand designed furniture and updated red and green New Zealand Post tones from a colour palette which is based on the iconic beautiful Pohutukawa tree," said Ms van Gaalen.
As part of the layout the Queenstown PostShop is larger with a 'welcome and assist' desk to help customers as early as possible and with a larger street presence, providing customers with clear signage.
The fit-out of the Queenstown PostShop has been underway for the past four to five weeks and today was its first day of trade.
Ms van Gaalen said she hopes the people of Queenstown will visit the new store and will provide any feedback on the design so it can evolve further before it is progressively rolled out across the country.
