Product Codes
From 1 July '08, the Product Codes you see on your invoice may be different. The changes are designed to help you understand the amount you are being charged.
Below you'll find a few examples of how and why different Product Codes would be used.
You can also download our Bulk Mail Non-Conformance Pricing Schedule (.xls - 56kb) which lists all the different Product Codes and rates, and briefly explains how they work.
If Bulk Mail fails on lodgement standards:
Our lodgement checklist outlines how mail should be presented to be classified as bulk mail. If these lodgement standards aren't met, your lodgement will not be classified at Bulk Mail rates. Your Product Code will change to an applicable Letter Domestic Product code (i.e. an LDP code).
| Example 1: No Statement of Accuracy |
| Original Product Code |
Statement of Accuracy % |
Problem |
The code that will appear on the invoice |
How the non-conformance rates are applied |
| VP1MS |
Statement of Accuracy ID Number and % rating not declared/don't exist |
No SOA - Lodgement standard not met |
LDPM |
LDPM rate applies to 100% of the lodgement |
If your Statement of Accuracy is less than 85%:
Our Statement of Accuracy requirement is 85%. Where you don't meet this, we will add a Statement of Accuracy (SOA) prefix to your original Product Code.
- You will be charged the applicable LDP rate on the portion between 85% and what you have declared on the Statement of Posting form.
- The remainder will be charged at the applicable Bulk Mail rate.
| Example 2: Statement of Accuracy % of 75% |
| Original Product Code |
Statement of Accuracy % |
Problem |
The code that will appear on the invoice |
How the non-conformance rates are applied |
| VP1MS |
75% |
Statement of Accuracy less than 85% |
SOAVP1MS |
Unit rate on the bill is based on 10% calculated at LDPM rate (85% - 75% = 10%) and the 90% balance at bulk mail rates (100% - 10% = 90%) |
Example 3: If mail doesn't meet Envelope or Address Layout Standards
If a product requirement check shows that your mail does not meet Envelope or Address Layout Standards, you will see an NC (non-conformance) prefix next to your original Product Code. And if you also have a Statement of Accuracy of less than 85%, the prefix will be SOANC. In these cases the SOA component will be calculated as described here and the NC element will attract a surcharge to reflect the extra work necessary to process your mail.
