Lodgement standards

Lodgement is a very important stage in the Bulk Mail process. Getting any aspect of it wrong can result in reclassification to an applicable Letter Domestic Product (LDP) mail rate across the total lodgement.

Here are the requirements, which must be met:

  • Minimum volume thresholds must be met. Find out about individual Bulk Mail product requirements
  • VolumePost 1 and VolumePost 3 must be trayed
  • GoFlexible and PrintPost lodgements must be either trayed or presented as 'bundles'
  • Bundled Bulk Mail must be faced with the delivery address facing forwards, except for the last item which needs to be 'back-faced' so that the delivery address is still visible
  • Bulk Mail must be labelled correctly
  • The Statement of Accuracy ID Number and % rating must be declared on the Statement of Posting for the declaration to be valid
  • Bulk Mail must be lodged in ascending postcode order (applies to VolumePost 1, GoFlexible and PrintPost only)
  • Bulk Mail must adhere to the thickness requirements
  • PermitPost indicia must be present and correctly positioned on the envelope
  • VolumePost 1 and VolumePost 3 mail must be flexible enough to go through the sorting machines. Please ensure each mail item and its contents can be bent around a 280mm diameter circular service (i.e. approximately 180 degrees). Note: This requirement applies only to VolumePost 1 and VolumePost 3 mail. It does not apply to either GoFlexible or PrintPost items.

If the Bulk Mail standards are not met then the Product Code and mail rate may change.
