New Zealand Post Chairman Jim Bolger announced today that he is pleased the Auditor General has found no problems with New Zealand Post loaning money to its Chief Executive as part of a remuneration package.
"The loan was approved by the Board of the time in 1993 following Mr Toime's appointment as Chief Executive. Until 1993 he had rented a home after a move from Australia, said Mr Bolger.

Mr Bolger said New Zealand Post accepted the report's findings that a small number of staff within Transend incurred expenditure that was 'excessive and wasteful'.
"Clearly, this was not an appropriate standard of behaviour by which a state-owned business such as Transend should have been conducting itself.
Transend Worldwide Ltd, New Zealand Post's international subsidiary, has won a contract worth more than NZ$1.5 million to provide over 650 Postal Delivery Sorting Systems to Hongkong Post.
The competitive tender to supply the Postal Delivery Sorting Systems was run by the Hong Kong Government Supplies Department.
All of the Postal Delivery Sorting Systems will be manufactured in Petone by Vision Concepts Ltd and supplied to Hongkong Post in three shipments from December through to April 2003.
