This is a trial service for Kapiti

This service is only available for sending parcels from the Kapiti district. Find out more.

As part of the Better Change Project New Zealand Post will be trialling new postal concepts in various locations in Kapiti.

This is a trial service for sending parcels overseas by International Air and available in selected branches only.

Delivery

Parcels sent by International Air have a three to ten working day mail delivery target to over 220 destinations, including PO Boxes and rural areas worldwide.

Packaging & weight

New packaging, in a selected range of sizes, is provided when sending parcels using this service. The new packaging, and the postage on the packaging, is for the trial range of parcel services and may only be used in trial branches. You must use this packaging if your item fits inside and you have not already packaged your item and paid the required postage. The maximum weight for items sent using the packaging is 10kg.

If your item doesn't fit, or is over 10kg, and you have not already packaged it and paid the required postage, you can wrap it yourself and send it from our trial branches.

The maximum weight for a parcel sent from the Paraparaumu, Waikanae or Raumati Beach branches not using the packaging is 20kg for International Air.

If you are lodging international items over the counter, to be billed to your New Zealand Post Account, you can continue to use existing services.

How much will it cost?

The required postage is based on the weight of the parcel and charged in 10g increments, so you only pay for what it weighs. The minimum charge for International Air parcels is 200g.

Postage is worked out according to:

  • the weight of your parcel,
  • the service you choose and
  • the zone you’re sending to.

You can get an indication of the required postage by using the following calculation and the table below.

How to send by International Air

To send your parcel by International Air you need to have:

  • a green Customs declaration (OS008a), listing each item and its value and attached to your parcel (for parcels up to 2kg)
  • a white Consignment Note (CN200), listing each item and its commercial value in the space provided (for parcels over 2kg or parcels, rolls or tubes under 2kg, as set out in the International Air terms and conditions. The white Consignment Note (CN200) cannot be used on parcels that do not meet these criteria). The white Consignment Note (CN200) includes an Export invoice, which may be required by New Zealand and overseas authorities.

Pay for and lodge your parcel over the counter at your local New Zealand Post branch.
