Matariki

Matariki is a celebration of the Maori New Year – a unique and special event for all New Zealanders to share in. It connects us with our heritage, nature, creativity and expression. Matariki is a fast-growing festival which more and more New Zealanders are experiencing and enjoying.

Matariki is traditionally celebrated during the months of June and July each year and is celebrated in towns and cities throughout the country. New Zealand Post is a major supporter of activities at Te Papa in Wellington and throughout the Auckland City region.

Major sponsor of the New Zealand Heart Foundation

New Zealand Post is the major sponsor of the Heart Foundation’s Go Red for Women Campaign.

Many people don't realise that more than seven New Zealand women die from heart disease every day. Heart disease is the leading cause of death of New Zealand women and many of these deaths are preventable. Go Red for Women is the Heart Foundation's campaign to raise awareness of the risk of heart disease and raise funds for women’s heart research and cardiac care.

Families and communities will stay together if we can help stop women from dying prematurely from heart disease.

The Heart Foundation message is simple and effective and links to our goal of improving the activity levels of New Zealanders to improve their health and wellness:

  • eat a heart healthy diet
  • enjoy regular physical activity
  • be smokefree
