New Zealand Post Group is committed to action on corporate sustainability and holds itself accountable for constantly achieving improvements in how we operate.
A key way to ensure we are continuing progress is to set concrete targets and measures and report on progress against these targets.
Environment
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions: To reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12% between 2008 and 2012.
- Fuel consumption: Our aim is to reduce fuel consumption (tonnes CO2e) by 8% by June 2012 from our baseline result of June 2008.
- Energy consumption: By 2012 the New Zealand Post Group is looking to have reduced its energy consumption by 5%.
- Waste: In 2011 - 2012 the New Zealand Post Group aims to reduce its waste to landfill by 9%. We also aim to recycle a further 70% of our total waste generated.
- Paper: Reduce use of copy paper across the New Zealand Post Group for the 2011 - 2012 year by 5%.
- Vehicle emissions: Express Couriers Ltd aims to have its entire heavy vehicle fleet at Euro 4 Engine Standard by 2015 and its entire fork hoist fleet fitted with emission filters by 2013.
Marketplace
- Our target for Marketplace for 2011 - 2012 is a new measure for New Zealand Post Group. We are focused on ensuring 80% of our high risk/high value suppliers are checked for their sustainability performance.
Community
- Value of community contribution: In 2011 - 2012 contribute $3.5 - $4 million to initiatives, or programmes, that help create shared value between our business and communities.
