From Monday 13 January 2014, New Zealand PostShops will no longer be offering the British High Commission check and send service.
From this date all applicants will need to start their application online at www.gov.uk and then send key documents, their photo and a signed declaration to Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK.
How we can help
In our Passport & ID photo capable stores we offer a bundle of these two products for $45:
- A passport photo that meets the UK standards – in most cases offering a free replacement photo if it is not accepted. See our Terms and Conditions for details.
- A secure prepaid international courier service with insurance + tracking to help keep documents safe.
We also provide a checklist to ensure you have included everything needed for your application to be completed.
Things you need to know
British passport applications are often delayed due to an incomplete or incorrect application, please ensure you double check what is required before sending off required documents to accompany your online application.
When sending internationally, be aware of the delivery targets of the world zone you are sending to.
Your application will take three to four weeks to process once received by Her Majesty’s Passport Office. However, we recommend you apply at least six weeks before your travel date in case of any delays.
If you have any questions contact the British High Commission Passport Advice line on +44 300 222 0000 or email overseasNewportCCC@hmpo.gsi.gov.uk.
If you have an urgent need to travel within the standard four weeks processing time, please contact your nearest British Consulate.
