New Zealand Post Christchurch Services Update

27 December 2011

Postie deliveries to Christchurch addresses will resume tomorrow (Wednesday 28 December).

Deliveries last Saturday were cancelled following the Friday 23 December earthquakes which resulted in the evacuation of the Christchurch Mail Proessing Centre.

The Centre is operational and mail is now being processed to be ready for delivery tomorrow.  As a result of Friday's quakes, some addresses in eastern suburbs and Sumner may not be able to have mail delivered to them due to obstruction and/or damage.  Posties will assess affected addresses and make a decision on a case-by-case basis whether mail can be safely delivered.  Occupants of affected addresses will be advised of alternative arrangements if their mail cannot be delivered.

All but one PostShop will be open for business in Christchurch tomorrow.  The Shirley PostShop in The Palms mall remains closed due to damage.
