Big freeze continues to affect mail deliveries

Snow and ice have disrupted mail deliveries for a second day running across significant parts of the country.

New Zealand Post spokesman Michael Tull says postal staff have pulled out all the stops to resume mail deliveries where possible – but road closures and icy conditions have created some unavoidable delays.

Details of the affected areas follow:

Taranaki Stratford Limited delivery due to icy areas. Posties to assess each street on a case-by-case basis.
  Eltham No delivery due to weather.
Manawatu Palmerston North, Levin and Fielding. No delivery due to weather.
Wairarapa Masterton, Featherston, Greytown, Carterton and Martinborough. No delivery due to weather.
  Eketahuna, Dannevirke, Ohakune, Raetihi, Waioru and Taihape. No delivery due to weather.
Wellington Wellington City, Hutt Valley, Porirua and Kapiti Coast. No delivery due to Wellington Mail Centre closed overnight, and ongoing weather issues in some suburbs.
Nelson / Blenheim Nelson, Richmoind, Takaka, Motueka, Blenheim, Picton and Havelock. Full delivery today - but only delivery yesterday's mail and locally posted mail due to Christchurch Mail Centre being closed.
Canterbury / West Coast Christchurch and Ashburton. No delivery due to weather.
  Timaru and Greymouth. No out of town mail received this morning. Only locally posted mail to be processed and delivered.
Lower South Island Alexandra, Queenstown, Wanaka and Gore. No delivery due to weather.
  Dunedin Delivery to most parts today. Posties to assess each street on a case-by-case basis.
  Oamaru Most area to be delivered to except for some streets on hills.
