Calling Canterbury cricket fans

11 December 2014

One lucky Christchurch cricket fan could win the chance to head out on to the pitch with the BLACKCAPS this time next month as the Kiwis take on Sri Lanka at the first ANZ One Day International at Hagley Oval.

New Zealand Post, through its community programme ActivePost, is giving Canterbury children the chance to deliver the match ball to the umpire before the first ANZ ODI on Sunday 11 January 2015.

“As cricket fever builds ahead of the Cricket World Cup, the chance to be involved in an ODI on their home turf is a prize children will love,” says New Zealand Post Sponsorship spokesperson Malcolm Shaw.

In between innings five lucky children and their parents will also be picked from the crowd and given the chance to win prizes by catching cricket balls lobbed from our lobo machine.

“It’s summer time and we want children to come along to the cricket, enjoy the games, and be inspired to participate in their own clubs and schools,” Malcolm Shaw says.

“The opportunity to be a part of a BLACKCAPS game will hopefully inspire young fans to stay involved with cricket and keep active in their communities.”
