29 May 2015

New Zealanders renewing their adult passports online can also verify their RealMe identity at the same time.

The Passport Co-apply programme, backed by New Zealand Post, the Department of Internal Affairs and New Zealand Passports allows New Zealanders to renew their passport and verify their online identity in one simple process.

Since the launch of the service at the weekend more than 1200 customers have already made use of passport co-apply.

A verified RealMe identity allows you to prove who you are to a number of organisations online. It’s secure, free to use will let you safely access a range of services, including your New Zealand Post account, with one user name and password.

From June 2015, StudyLink will also offer the option of a RealMe verified identity for students applying for allowances and loans.

By working together New Zealand Post, the Department of Internal Affairs and New Zealand Passports is making life online easier for New Zealanders.
