Snow halts mail deliveries across most of Otago

28 May 2013

Snow and icy road conditions have prevented mail deliveries across most of Otago today (Tuesday 28 May).

New Zealand Post spokesman Michael Tull says they regret any inconvenience to customers – but the safety of posties and other road users must come first.

There will be no postal deliveries in Dunedin, Queenstown and Alexandra.

Deliveries are being attempted in Cromwell and Wanaka, but with an eye to the heavens – as it may be necessary to halt deliveries if weather conditions deteriorate.

“Customers can rest assured that their mail is safe, and that New Zealand Post will put a priority on delivering it promptly once the weather improves,” Michael Tull said.
