Social Innovation in the spotlight
New Zealand Post Group is getting behind the 2012 NZI National Sustainable Business Network Awards by sponsoring the Social Innovation Award.
The Social Innovation category is open to outstanding social enterprises, innovations or businesses that use new strategies and ideas to meet social needs of all kinds. This could be through research, collaboration, creating new ventures or working with community groups or public agencies.
“New Zealand is experiencing huge growth in social enterprise and innovation,” Sophie Heighway, Corporate Sustainability Manager for New Zealand Post, says.
“The Social Innovation Award is a great opportunity to highlight others who are making a difference and helping New Zealand communities in new and innovative ways.
“Last year the Social Innovation category attracted more nominations than any other and we’re expecting a high number of quality nominations again this year,” Sophie Heighway added.
In 2011 350 Aotearoa won the Social Innovation Award for their work to unite people around solutions to climate change. For 350, it’s not about business as usual, the scale of the issue requires them to think strategically, be socially innovative, and use the tools they have to build a powerful, sustainable organisation.
