Weather causes further delays in South Island mail delivery

26 July 2011

Winter conditions have disrupted postal services in the lower South Island for a second day running.

Icy conditions, caused by snowfalls over recent days, have stopped mail deliveries in Christchurch for the day.

In all areas from Oamaru south there will be limited mail deliveries, depending on road and footpath conditions.

In Dunedin, more than half of postal rounds will not receive mail deliveries today, while Mosgiel mail deliveries have been cancelled for the day.

In other centres – including Oamaru, Invercargill and Queenstown - New Zealand Post team leaders will be assessing delivery rounds on a case by case basis.

New Zealand Post regrets any inconvenience.
