Recycling our packaging
Packaging allows us to send and receive goods safely, but it can also cause a big waste headache. We work hard to minimise the impact of packaging products on the environment but we need your help too.
That means being smart about the design of our packaging products and making it easy for our customers to recycle when they’re finished with those products.
New Zealand Post boxes are made using 69-79% recycled paper and non-toxic water based inks (including the gloss). All our boxes are 100% recyclable and can be recycled through local kerbside collection or at recycling points.
Our plastic envelopes and parcel bubble bags are also fully recyclable within the soft plastic [plastic number 4 and 5] waste stream. Soft plastic packaging can be recycled at the Packaging Forum Soft Plastics Programme collection bins being rolled out across New Zealand at retailers including The Warehouse, New World and Pak’n’Save.
For our business customers, we also offer BackTrack your TrackPak (PDF - 777KB), a recycling collection service for courier and postal plastic satchels.
Our used plastic packaging is combined with other soft plastics and converted into new products by Astron Plastics.
