"NZ Post’s APIs and warehousing solutions helped us expand from a small locally run start-up into a thriving, locally and internationally-focused business." Jared Tasker, Joint Owner, Need A Part.

Growing out of the garage

Andy Abel and Jared Tasker aren’t ones to let the grass grow under their feet. In just a few years they have taken their online business, Need A Part, from a small garage operation in Wellington to a sizeable operation based at NZ Post’s Contract Logistics Warehouse in Auckland.

It’s hard work that has made this happen – hard work, knowing their market and making sure their customers are satisfied.

Need A Part is an online retailer specialising in sourcing and importing parts for small appliances such as vacuum cleaners, espresso machines, bread makers, food processors and more. If it’s got a plug (or a battery), they probably stock a part for it.

“We get heaps of orders to fill every week,” says Jared. “New Zealand Post plays an important role in making this process run smoothly.”

It’s all about the working relationship. Need A Part switched to NZ Post when other delivery providers weren’t able to meet their customers’ delivery expectations.

This new partnership gave them the reliability they needed to ship anywhere in New Zealand or around the world. When Need A Part outgrew their storage capacity at their site in Wellington, NZ Post provided a warehousing solution for all their stock storage and management needs.

In the last year, Need A Part integrated with NZ Post’s smart online tools.

Jared adds: “NZ Post and CourierPost are really ahead of the curve, their online tools allow us to offer a smooth, fast and more enjoyable experience to our customers, throughout the country and around the world.”

The Address Finder API helps Need A Part’s customers move through the checkout faster by auto-filling their address. The Tracking Notification API keeps their customers informed of key tracking events for their parcel.

“It’s amazing,” says Jared. “It means customers can get in touch with us straight away if their parcel hasn’t turned up when they’re expecting it to, instead of waiting three days, getting angry and then calling us.”

“NZ Post and CourierPost make life easier for our customers and easier for us. They’re now an integral part of ensuring customer satisfaction and delivery.” says Andy.
