Apply for an IRD number at your local PostShop and we’ll organise and forward it on to Inland Revenue for you.
You can get an IRD number by simply filling in an application form and bringing it along with the required documentation to your local PostShop. You will need to bring with you the original documents to be verified as well as legible copies.
You’ll receive your number by mail approximately two weeks after you've applied.
You need an IRD number if:
- you have a job and pay taxes.
- you're a parent or guardian applying on behalf of a child under 16.
- you're a student registering for a student loan.
- you’re starting a company or going into business.
- you join KiwiSaver.
You may need to provide your IRD number if you are buying, selling or transferring New Zealand property.
