Top tips to make sure your checkout is working for your customers - and for you.

Feature the brand they love, in the way they recognise

Ensure you are using the current NZ Post logo and referring to our products and brand in the way your customers expect. Not only will this give customers reassurance in who's handling their parcel, but it also helps get the all-important buy now click.

Put the power of choice in their hands

A quarter of all receivers are not satisfied with the range of delivery options offered by stores in New Zealand.² Tap into our full product range and pass that choice onto your customers. Plus, with NZ Post you can focus on speed and security to give that added touch of reassurance at checkout.

Checkout FAQs

If you have a developer on hand, they can assist with updating your checkout options directly. Alternatively, you can visit the following eShip and Starshipit support articles for step-by-step guidance on how to update your online checkout page.

Anytime you start sending with a new NZ Post service – such as Photo on delivery or Express Tonight – make sure you include the service as an option at checkout. You can also make sure your customers are kept informed of any domestic or international delivery updates by sharing a link to our pages on your shipping FAQs.

Your checkout should use the correct NZ Post service names and descriptions, including delivery timeframes; research shows that customers are more satisfied when you offer them multiple checkout options. Your customers like to know who is delivering their items, so make it clear their item will be delivered by NZ Post.

To create flat rates at checkout:

  1. Follow the Shopify instructions for setting up custom flat rates at checkout
  2. Ensure that you have also mapped this correctly to your labelling tool, such as eShip.
  3. Test your checkout process to see how the shipping options display to customers. You can place a test order to verify that the rates appear as expected, as well as ensuring that this information is flowing back to your NZ Post labelling tool, and that your label is displaying the correct service.

To create dynamic rates at checkout, take a look at our plugin options.

During our rebrand in 2021, the names of the CourierPost and Pace services were changed to Courier and Express respectively. CourierPost and Pace are no longer terms that refer to any of our services.

When using our company name, you should always refer to us as NZ Post (not New Zealand Post). Our Economy, Courier and Express product names all start with a capital letter. Our retail locations are called NZ Post stores.

Here is a list of approved messages that you can use to promote NZ Post as your delivery partner across your marketing materials. You can use these in your customer emails, on your website and in your social media posts.
