If your parcel is outside the size and weight restrictions of the NZ Post packaging ranges or doesn’t meet our criteria outlined in the pricing table for your own packaging above, the following prices will apply for our Economy and Courier services.

You will be charged the greater of:
The actual weight of your parcel (as determined by our scales), rounded up to the nearest 5kg, or
The volumetric weight of your parcel, rounded up to the nearest 5kg.
To calculate volumetric weight (kg), measure the parcel’s height (m) x length (m) x thickness (m) and multiply this by 200. e.g. (0.5 x 0.4 x 0.3) x 200 = 12kg.
For example, a 14 kg parcel going within the same island would cost $27.60 using the Economy service.
Maximum dimensions for large parcels
The maximum dimensions for larger parcels are:
Weight = 25kg
Volume = 0.125m3
Length = 1.5m

When postage for your parcel has been paid for using stamps alone, you will need to get a separate tracking label in-store.

- Collected from sender: When the item has been lodged at a NZ store#
- Delayed: In the unlikely event that your item is delayed or misdirected
-Out for Delivery: When your item is with our courier driver for delivery
- Delivered: When the item has been safely delivered by the local courier driver

If your parcel is lodged in a posting box, it will not receive a ‘Collected from sender’ scan

For the purpose of delivery targets, the day on which a mail item is accepted by us is day zero. If you post an item, or hand it over the counter in a New Zealand Post retail outlet on a Saturday or after that day’s final clearance, day zero will be the next working day.
Delivery outside major towns and cities (listed below), including to and from rural or remote areas will take longer.
Major towns and cities are:
Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Tauranga, Whakatane*, Rotorua*, Tokoroa*, Taupo*, Gisborne*, New Plymouth, Wanganui*, Napier, Hastings, Palmerston North*, Fielding*, Levin*, Masterton*, Wellington/Kapiti, Nelson, Blenheim, Christchurch, Greymouth, Ashburton, Timaru, Oamaru, Queenstown, Dunedin, Invercargill.
*Due to transport schedules, the delivery target from these towns to particular other major towns and cities on some days is two (2) working days.
