A Kiwi Access Card (which replaces the 18+ Card) is a Photo ID card that proves your identity and age. If you don't have a valid passport and/or driver licence, a Kiwi Access Card is the ideal form of identification recognised in New Zealand. You can apply at participating NZ Post stores.

Apply for a Photo ID card to prove you're over 18. Complete an application at an NZ Post store, and we'll forward it to Hospitality NZ.

You’ll receive your card in the mail within 2 - 3 weeks.

Who is a Kiwi Access card for?

  • Those over the age of 60 and the retired community who may no longer drive or hold a valid passport.
  • Vision impaired (young or old). With braille on the card, those with low or no vision can identify their Kiwi Access Card as their photo identification in their wallet or purse.
  • Travellers, backpackers and visitors to New Zealand, who don't want to worry about losing their passport while out and about.
  • If you are over 18 or have just turned 18 and need evidence of age ID to access goods and services. You can apply anytime ON, AFTER or ONE MONTH PRIOR TO your 18th birthday.
  • Photo ID if you don’t have a driver licence or passport.
  • An alternative form of photo ID.
  • It only costs $60 and is valid for 10 years.

What you need to apply

You can pick up an application form at participating NZ Post stores or download it on the Kiwi Access Card website
