If your business is moving to a new address, you're closing for a short time, or you want to keep your customer data up to date, we have solutions for you.

Redirect business mail

You can redirect your business mail* to an address in New Zealand or overseas, permanently or temporarily. 

If you are moving address and not returning, you can permanently redirect your mail for 2, 4, 6 or 12 months. A permanent redirection can be extended past 12 months. 

If you plan to return to your usual address, you can temporarily redirect your mail to another address for up to 12 months. A temporary redirection is not extendable past 12 months. 

*This service is to redirect NZ Post mail items only. It will not redirect courier parcels, newspapers, circulars or mail, such as hospital appointments, that you may receive through other mail providers like DX Mail.

To set up a redirect, apply online with an NZ Passport, NZ Driver License or RealMe Id. Don’t have these? Apply in store. Please apply at least 4 working days before you want the redirection to start, or 6 if applying at an NZ Post store.

For a business redirection, a business authorisation letter on relevant letterhead will need to be provided.

We'll send you an email or letter confirming once the redirection has been set-up.

Once your redirect is in place, you may need to make changes. You can change the redirection address or extend your temporary or permanent redirect for an additional fee. 

Once your Redirection ends, your mail will be delivered as addressed. You can end your Redirection early or before it starts. Please allow 3 working days from the time of your cancellation for your mail delivery to resume. 

You can amend your existing Redirection online by linking it to your My NZ Post account. Note the existing Redirection must match the My NZ Post account holder's first and last name. Log in to Mail Delivery Services and enter your current Redirection number on your redirection email or letter. 

Alternatively, an Application to Amend Redirection form is available at your local NZ Post store.

This service is to redirect NZ Post mail items only. It will not redirect courier parcels, newspapers, circulars or mail, such as hospital appointments, that you may receive through other mail providers like DX Mail.

Hold business mail

With our hold service, everything sent to your business postal address* is kept safe and secure while you are away. We simply hold all the addressed mail delivered to your address for up to 12 weeks including extensions.

*NZ Post is unable to hold parcels over 3kg, mail delivered by other postal operators, and newspapers and circulars.

Once your hold is in place, you may need to make changes.

Once your Hold ends, your mail will be delivered as addressed. You can end your Hold early or before it starts. Please allow 4 working days from the time of your cancellation for your mail delivery to resume.

You can amend your existing hold online or alternatively, complete a hold service application at your local NZ Post store.

You will be required to provide proof of identification where amendments are made at an NZ Post store as amendments can only be made by an occupant of the address or an authorised agent of the person who made the original request. Fees will apply to all Hold service extensions.

  • NZ Post is unable to hold parcels over 3kg, mail delivered by other postal operators, and newspapers and circulars.
  • Held mail cannot be accessed for the duration of the Hold Service term.
  • NZ Post reserves the right to accept, reject or cancel your Hold Service at any time. If you have put your mail on hold at your local NZ Post store and we have rejected or cancelled your Hold request, we will notify you by phone.
  • If you have paid for a Hold Service request and cancelled it before it starts, you are eligible for a refund. Please contact our Customer Care Centre for further details.
  • We'll use reasonable care and skill in providing the Hold service, but to the maximum extent permitted by law, NZ Post's liability for any loss or damage however caused in providing this service is limited to refunding the fee (if any) you have paid us for the service.

Keeping customer data current

Keeping in touch with your customers can be challenging. Having up-to-date customer data can help your business stay in contact with customers when you need to contact them or reduce the volume of returned mail to your business.

We can automatically notify you when customers move house or change their details with our Change my details service, which NZ Post offers to your customers for free.

We'll notify your business each time your customers update their details, such as their address, home phone, mobile phone and email. Your customer data will stay current, and you can use it as an opportunity for your business to talk to them about relevant offers and targeted communication.
