“This is a very pleasing result for NZ Post and an important milestone in our business transformation. Through the disciplined execution of our strategy, NZ Post continues to strengthen its commercial position while delivering value for our customers,” says NZ Post Chair, Dame Paula Rebstock.
"The Board is encouraged by the progress achieved this year and remains focused on supporting sustainable performance, disciplined investment and long-term value creation as NZ Post builds on this momentum,” Dame Paula says.
During 2025/26, NZ Post achieved several major transformation milestones:
- Completed its multi-year investment in a world-class automated parcel processing network.
- Continued the implementation of changes across the mail network in response to the ongoing volume decline supported by the amended Deed of Understanding.
- Changed its urban retail network to better reflect the way New Zealanders are using postal services today.
- Grew its integrated logistics offerings across the Group through its Fliway/SCS business to strengthen end-to-end delivery services.
The scale and effectiveness of these investments were particularly evident during NZ Post’s busiest period of the year, says David Walsh, Chief Executive at NZ Post.
“The benefits of these investments were demonstrated during the peak November and December delivery period, when 17.1 million parcels were successfully processed through NZ Post’s network. This included a record 575,000 parcels in a single day following Black Friday,” Walsh says.
Alongside stronger commercial performance and sustained customer satisfaction, employee engagement increased, and the business continued to strengthen its health and safety performance while progressing its commitment to low-emission delivery solutions.
“Our 2025/26 results reflect the dedication of our people and partners, and the trust of our customers and stakeholders. We acknowledge their support and commitment, which has been instrumental in helping us achieve this result, particularly in a year where we have worked through challenges together,” says Walsh.
Looking ahead to FY27, NZ Post is actively evolving how it works to enable it to respond faster to customer needs and operate in a more efficient and connected way.
“Our focus is on working towards clearer priorities for our parcels and mail businesses, as we continue to create long-term value for our customers, communities and shareholder.”
