Our sustainability commitment

Sustainability is a big deal at New Zealand Post. As an organisation that’s been around for 175 years, it’s in our DNA.

To us, sustainability means being accountable for our impact as a business, both locally and globally. It’s knowing our choices and actions matter today and in the future – and doing something about it. Key is ensuring that we provide our customers with the highest levels of service and satisfaction in a sustainable way. We do this by continually improving our performance through our people, processes and management systems.

Enviro-Mark Platinum certification

Working through the Enviro-Mark five-step Environmental Management System (EMS) programme, New Zealand Post has achieved Enviro-Mark Platinum certification for its Mailhouse Operations in Auckland and Christchurch.

Administered by Enviro-Mark Solutions (a wholly owned subsidiary of Landcare Research) and independently audited, Enviro-Mark aligns with the world-renowned environmental standard - ISO 14001:2004. The EMS programme assesses our performance against agreed standards, legislative compliance, internal processes and continuous improvement practices.

Our Mailhouse employees receive EMS training in all areas relevant to their work. They are committed to delivering a high quality service that provides a great customer experience, while minimising their environmental impact. To help us achieve these goals we’ve set environmental targets that we can monitor our progress against and report the results.
