International Express Courier

A prestige courier service to over 220 destinations worldwide for urgent and confirmed delivery to the door.

International Express Courier has a one to five working day delivery target to any street or rural address. Your parcel is tracked and requires a signature on delivery. There is no additional fuel surcharge or rural delivery fee.

The required postage to send by International Express Courier depends on the destination, weight and size of your parcel.

Unless packed in International Courier bags, International Express Courier items are charged at the greater of the actual or volumetric weight, in 10g increments. Items sent in International Courier bags are charged at actual weight.

Volumetric weight (kg) = (height (m) x length (m) x depth (m) x 200

Use International Express Courier if your parcel is up to 30kg. If it’s over 30kg it is oversized and should be sent via should be sent via Freight.

Sending items by International Express Courier

To send by International Express Courier you need to package your documents securely and have a black business consignment note (CN001) or the white consignment note (CN300) which is only available for in store use, completed in English. You can use your own packaging or choose from one of our products below:

Things you need to know

  • All parcels sent internationally require a Customs declaration.
  • Due to increased security clearance requirements, please ensure all shipments include the receiver’s full name, full business name (if sending to a business) and address, and the sender's full contact details, when using International Express Courier service, otherwise your item will risk delay or rejection.
  • For items being sent to the USA, Canada, Central or South America, the sender's address cannot be a PO Box address.
  • Items can only be sent to a PO Box address if sent to Bahamas, Kuwait, Solomon Islands or Vanuatu. A daytime contact phone number and full name for the receiver of the item must be written on the consignment note.
  • Iran is currently subject to global sanctions and is unavailable as a destination using this service.
  • The recipient's telephone number must be provided as part of their address details.
  • A copy of the commercial invoice or an Export Invoice (NCPI025) (PDF - 49KB), is required for documents weighing over 1kg and for all other items.
  • A completed Export Entry (for items valued over NZ$1,000). We can complete this on your behalf for an additional cost.

  • Our Rate Finder provides estimates only. When using Print Postage Online, the results are only as accurate as your estimation/measurement of the size, weight and value of your mail item. In some instances the International Air Parcels untracked service may not be the cheapest option to the overseas destination.
Terms and conditions

The standard terms and conditions of the products and services offered by New Zealand Post Limited, including information on the extent of our liability, are set out in the Public Contract and the Postal Users' Guide. They are also available for reference at PostShop stores and selected New Zealand Post retail outlets.

Delivery Targets

For the purposes of delivery targets, the day in which the item is accepted by us is day zero. If you post an item, or hand it over the counter in a New Zealand Post retail outlet after that day’s final clearance, or on Saturday or Sunday, day zero will be the next working day.

You can expect that items will usually arrive at their destination within the delivery target specified. Because New Zealand Post does not directly control all parts of the delivery chain, we cannot guarantee that your item will always reach its destination within the delivery target. Delivery to areas outside major cities, or where your item is dutiable or held in Customs, may take longer. Required postage

The required postage is the value of postage required for New Zealand Post to carry the item. Actual price paid may vary instore. The required postage and specifications are subject to change.

Cover for loss or damage, prohibited & restricted items

Before sending mail items, make sure your item is safe to send and will be covered if it goes missing or is damaged. Make sure you read about cover for loss or damage and prohibited & restricted items.

Subject to our terms and conditions, item contents valued at:

  • up to NZ$2,000 may be sent by businesses with a New Zealand Post Account. If, over NZ$2,000 but less than NZ$50,000, it may only be sent if Additional Compensation Cover is purchased
  • up to NZ$2,000 may be sent by businesses without a New Zealand Post Account (or with one but not using a business consignment note).

In line with the above, and subject to our terms and conditions, a compensation limit for loss or damage of up to NZ$2,000 is available for items sent by International Express Courier. For New Zealand Post Account customers, who have purchased Additional Compensation Cover, the cover limit available is up to NZ$50,000.
