Pay your bills and car registration at your local NZ Post store.

Vehicle services

Re-license your car (pay your car registration), change vehicle ownership or pay road user charges at a local NZ Post store.

Vehicle licensing (rego)

Buy your vehicle licence at a selected local NZ Post store and you'll receive your licence label on the spot. Check if your local NZ Post store has these services with Find NZ Post.

Fees are based on your vehicle type, usage, and how long you choose to license.

Licensing your vehicle

Choose your licence period on the reminder notice you received in the mail, or complete the Application to license motor vehicle (MR1B) form at a local NZ Post store

If you complete the MR1B form, you’ll need to know your vehicle plate number, year, make and model.

Selling a vehicle

Let Waka Kotahi know you’ve sold a vehicle on their website, or complete a Selling or disposing of a vehicle? (MR13A) form, available at your local NZ Post store.

Buying a vehicle

Complete a Change of registered person - buyer (MR13B) form at an NZ Post store.

If you’re an individual, you’ll need your New Zealand driver licence or proof of ID with your full name, signature and date of birth.

If you’re an organisation, you’ll need your New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) or your Waka Kotahi customer number.

Road user charges

If your vehicle is over 3500kg, uses diesel or any other fuel that isn’t taxed at the source, you’ll need to pay road user charges (RUC). Pay at your local NZ Post retail outlet and you'll receive your RUC label on the spot.

Buying road user charges

Complete a Road user charges distance licence application (RUCLA) form at your local NZ Post retail outlet  and pay the application fee.

You’ll need to know your vehicle plate number, year, make, model and current odometer/hubodometer reading.

Credit card payment is now accepted for vehicle services at NZ Post. This does incur a credit card fee.

NZ Post Limited is a member of Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) in relation to its financial services. FDR is an independent scheme to help consumers and financial service providers resolve disputes and is free for consumers to use.

From 16 June 2013, when making a cash payment of $10,000 and over, or multiple payments that cumulatively amount to $10,000 or over, you will be required to bring valid identification with you to your local NZ Post store.
