From July 2023 you'll notice some changes to our bags in store and in our online shop. We’ve simplified our bag ranges and now have one bag range for all your sending needs. We’ve removed the service pricing from our bags to ensure that you are choosing the best service for your items when sending within NZ.

Choose a bag that best fits your item. We have 7 handy bag sizes available ranging from XS to XXL.

^ Prices above include the RRP of the NZ Post bag. If using your own packaging, only the service ticket pricing applies. A rural delivery surcharge of $5.50 applies to items sent to a rural address. 

Sending self-packaged parcels using our new tickets

We now have a full range of Courier and Economy service tickets to affix to your self-packaged small parcels for sending within New Zealand. The service price is the same whether you’re sending a self-packaged parcel or a bag from the NZ Post range.
 

Which ticket size is right for your parcel?

The ticket size will depend on which NZ Post bag size your item (including its packaging) would fit into.

Step 1: Calculate maximum height

Add your parcel's height and depth together to find the maximum height. i.e. if your parcel measures 300mm height x 240mm width x 20mm depth, 300mm + 20mm = 320mm

Step 2: Calculate maximum width

Add your parcel's width and depth together to find the maximum width. i.e. 240mm + 20mm = 260mm

Step 3: Check bag sizes

Check the bag range dimensions to see which size your item is likely to fit into. e.g., your 320mm x 260mm item fits in the size L bag (370mm x 275mm) so you need to affix the L ticket size to your parcel.

Sending overseas

You can now purchase our new bag range in store for sending your items overseas. Buy a bag in store and pay for sending your destination at the counter or take your bag away and print a label using the Send a parcel tool.

To help you, service and pricing information for both our Courier and Economy services will be displayed online and on our sending walls in-store directly above the bags. 

Yes. Bags purchased before 1 July 2023 can still be used to send items. However, you will no longer be able to purchase (prepaid) bags with pricing printed on them from 1 July 2023.

If you have any tickets purchased before 1 July 2023 at home, you can still continue to use these too.

Yes. You can purchase your bags and Economy or Courier tickets at the counter or online to use later. 

If sending within New Zealand, make sure you purchase the right sending tickets to go with your bags, as our Economy and Courier tickets are now specific to bag size.

Books of 10 sending tickets are also available on our online shop or from your local NZ Post store.

Our bag dimensions are still the same – we’ve just renamed them. Here's how they compare. For example, for a Size 3 (C4) bag use an M ticket:
