How pricing is calculated

The factors impacting your shipping postage are the chargeable weight (actual or volumetric), minimum chargeable weight and weight increments. This service is charged with an item rate component and a kilo rate component as shown above.

Chargeable weight

The service is charged by the greater of actual scale weight or volumetric weight. The minimum chargeable weight for this service is 0.5kg.

To calculate the volumetric weight: Height (m) x Length (m) x Width (m) x 200

Weight increments

The chargeable weight increment of the service is 0.5kg. The greater of actual scale weight or volumetric weight is rounded up to the next 0.50kg to get the chargeable weight.

Apply the formula to get the total postage: Item $ + Kilo $ x chargeable weight (kg)

- Ancillary Charges (if applicable) as well as additional compensation cover (optional) are charged in addition to your shipping postage.

Product specifications (per item) Length
Maximum length  0.67m
Maximum size (length + girth)  0.25m
Maximum weight   22kg

Pricing for this service is consistent nationwide. The same rate applies regardless of the destination within the continental United States. Please note: Additional surcharges apply for deliveries to Hawaii and Alaska.

Documentation

All parcels sent internationally require a Customs declaration. The information contained within the declaration may be electronically transmitted to the destination postal administration and national government agencies (such as Customs) in advance of arrival for reasons such as fiscal, risk, security and border clearance, in line with national and international legislation. Learn more about Electronic Advance Data (EAD).

Use one of the NZ Post electronic lodgement tools (such as eShip or APIs) to create the shipping labels to complete the Customs documentation. Items requiring import approval can’t be sent using Courier Select_US.

Items that require approval from a government partner agency of the United States e.g. FDA, cannot be sent on this service. If you think your item might fall into a category that requires additional paperwork such as permit or approval from a government partner agency, please contact your business manager to confirm. Items that are sent without prior approval will result in return or destruction at your own cost.

Legal Information

For the purposes of delivery targets, the day in which the item is accepted by us is day zero. If you post an item, or hand it over the counter in a NZ Post store after that day’s final clearance, or on Saturday or Sunday, day zero will be the next working day.

You can expect that items will usually arrive at their destination within the delivery target specified. Because NZ Post does not directly control all parts of the delivery chain, we cannot guarantee that your item will always reach its destination within the delivery target. Delivery to areas outside major cities, or where your item is dutiable or held in Customs, may take longer. For information on our delivery targets for international destinations, view our guide to World Zones.

The required postage is the value of postage required for NZ Post to carry the item. Actual price paid may vary instore. The required postage and specifications are subject to change.

Before sending mail items, make sure your item is safe to send and will be covered if it goes missing or is damaged. Make sure you read about cover for loss or damage and prohibited & restricted items.
