Set up an ongoing Parcel Leave authority for all parcels addressed to people at the address specified. Terms and conditions apply.
You can also change or cancel an existing Parcel Leave authority by logging into an NZ Post Account and add your address.

 

Frequently asked questions

To set up your Parcel Leave authority for the first time, you can either add it to an existing address in Your Account or add a new address.

When you request your address to be verified, you'll provide your first name, last name, date of birth and primary home address for online verification.

If we can't verify your address online, we'll send a letter to the address you're verifying which contains a unique code. This code can be entered at NZ Post. This verifies that the address receives mail delivery with New Zealand Post and that you're authorised to set up a Parcel Leave authority.

Once the address is chosen, or after the address is verified, you need to specify the Parcel Leave delivery instructions (i.e. where you'd like the courier to leave your parcels) and provide your contact phone number (in case we need to get in touch).

Parcel Leave is where you give authority for your courier to sign for an individual parcel on your behalf, and leave it in a safe place.

Either you can do this one-time for a specific parcel with Parcel Leave Once, or you can set up an ongoing Parcel Leave authority for a particular address* via Parcel Leave Ongoing. To set up an ongoing Parcel Leave authority you will need to verify your address and complete the Parcel Leave authority process.

Yes. Parcel Leave authority provides the same service as Authority to Leave. Unlike Authority to Leave, you can set up, renew, manage and cancel your Parcel Leave authority online.

A Parcel Leave authority allows you to give our courier authority to sign for a parcel on your behalf, and leave it in a safe place on an ongoing basis*.

Your Parcel Leave authority is valid on an ongoing basis from the date that your address becomes verified (whether online or by entering the verification code from the Address Verification letter).

After 12 months we'll email you asking you to review your Parcel Leave authority in case you wish to modify/cancel it. If there is no response to the email, we will also send a letter to the address following up.

You can renew, manage and cancel your Parcel Leave authority online in your New Zealand Post Online Account.

To check if there is an existing Parcel Leave authority for your address, add the address to your account and select 'Verify address'. We will either verify online or send you a letter with a verification code to enter. Once verified, the Parcel Leave authority will be visible on your account and you can choose to cancel or replace the authority.

If you redirect a parcel after you have given authority for the courier to sign for and leave your parcel the authority to leave will not apply because it has been applied to the previous address.

If you redirect a parcel* before you have given authority for the courier to sign for and leave your parcel, the authority to leave will not apply for security reasons.

* If you redirect a YouShop parcel before you have given authority for the courier to sign for and leave your parcel, the authority to leave will still apply because it has been applied to the new address.

Some parcels have a "No-Authority to Leave" or "No-ATL" ticket. The parcel sender has determined such parcels are not able to have the signature requirement changed due to the nature of their contents (e.g. passports) or contractual reasons with the sender.

If the delivery instruction with your Parcel Leave authority isn't showing or is showing something different to what you expect, you can update this at any time by clicking on "Replace instruction" in the Manage Addresses section of your New Zealand Post Online Account.

If you have an existing Authority to Leave set up against your address, this will show in the My Addresses section of your New Zealand Post Online Account, provided the address is saved and verified. If the address isn't verified, the existing Authority to Leave will not be displayed.

If your address is saved against your account and verified but your existing Authority to Leave instruction isn't displaying, please contact our National Contact Centre for further assistance.

There are a number of reasons you may not be able to create a Parcel Leave authority for your address. These include:

  • Your address has been blocked from having a Parcel Leave authority against it: This usually happens when someone has specifically requested that we not allow the creation of an authority for their address. Check with the other occupants of your address and if you'd like the block to be removed, please contact our National Contact Centre.
  • Parcel Leave isn't available in your area: In this case, there is no Parcel Leave service available in your area at the moment, however we hope to expand to your area soon.
  • Your address can't be verified: If your address doesn't exist in our database. This is quite common for new subdivisions.

    You can Suggest an Address which will allow you to set up a Parcel Leave authority once it has been approved and added to the database.

By giving authority for the courier to sign for and leave your parcel, you also acknowledge that we will not be liable in any way for any loss or damage to the parcel left at the address in accordance with your instructions. This means it's up to you to ensure the location you have specified is safe and secure.

If your Parcel Leave authority requires access keys or a pin code to be provided to the Delivery Agent, please complete the manual Authority to Leave form and contact your local CourierPost branch to make these arrangements.
