Sending from NZ pricing and product changes from 1 May 2026

We regularly review our pricing to ensure we can continue delivering a strong, reliable and sustainable service. Like many organisations, we’re operating in an environment where costs continue to rise. While we work hard to keep changes to a minimum, pricing for our services will be changing from 1 May 2026.

These changes mean we can continue managing international deliveries reliably as operating costs rise. We remain focused on strong crossborder performance, processing efficiency, and dependable delivery for your customers.

We usually update our prices on 1 July, but this year we need to adjust international rates a little earlier to align with changes from the New Zealand Customs Service and the Ministry for Primary Industries. A larger than expected number of global changes has increased the cost of sending items overseas. To continue providing a reliable service, we’re updating our rates to reflect these impacts.

^ Maximum weight may be lower for some destinations. For full details please see our Guide for Courier & Courier Extension Size and Weight Limits (PDF - 52KB)

See the world zone page to find out which destinations are grouped in which zone.

NZ Post account holders can expect to receive notification of the price increases by letter or email in late March 2026. If you haven’t received these details, or if you would like to discuss what this means for your business, please get in touch with your Business Manager or contact us.

Border Clearance Levy

The New Zealand Customs Service and the Ministry for Primary Industries are introducing new fees and levies to recover the costs of managing goods crossing the border.

Where applicable, for items leaving New Zealand (outbound) services, NZ Post will pass these charges on directly to you, and these charges will appear as a separate line item on your invoices*. More information can be found on NZ Customs website around these charges.

* If you use Small Business Sending, the fee will be included in your shipping cost.

These charges apply to your items sent using the following services only:

Courier Select

  • Australia
  • US

Express

All other services (Economy, Economy Tracked, Economy Plus, Courier) will not have this levy applied.

The new levies are:

  • High value (over NZ$1,000) items will incur a levy of $3.35 per entry, in addition to any standard clearance costs
  • Low value (up to NZ$1,000) items will incur a levy of $2.48 per parcel

Courier Select_US

From 1 May 2026, a $5 admin fee per parcel will apply on Courier Select US. The disbursement fee will be adjusted from 2.5% to 5%, based off the duties and taxes payable. There are no changes to the postage rates for Courier Select_US.

Product changes

Discontinuation of Business Manual Consignment Notes

These forms are no longer available for ordering. From 1 May 2026, the business consignment notes (OS007, CN001 and IEC001) will no longer be accepted for courier collection. If you’d prefer to use manual consignment notes, from this date you will need to lodge via a NZ Post retail store, and your contract rates and discounts will not apply.
We strongly encourage you to use an NZ Post electronic lodgement tool such as eShip, Small Business Sending or APIs to send with us.

Service and product usage window

If you haven’t used a product in 12 months, NZ Post may remove the service from your contract and pricing schedule. This means that if you use the uncontracted service, this will be charged at the published or card rates, not previously contracted rates. If you would like to use any removed services after a period of inactivity, please reach out to your Business Manager to chat about accessing updated rates and discounts or Small Business Sending to request a call back from our team.

The increase in recommended retail price (RRP) of some postage included envelopes may differ from the increase in postage due to increases in other supplier costs.
