Wishbone has always prided itself on fresh thinking. Before quinoa was common vernacular and healthy takeaways were a thing, the convenience-food chain had a vision to make fresh and healthy food readily available to Kiwis on the go.
Still family owned and operating from their kitchen in Wellington since 2000, Wishbone has since grown steadily. And so has their appetite for making their offering more accessible, to more people.
Starting out with stores in main centres and airports, Wishbone then worked with NZ Post to offer 90 minute deliveries within Wellington’s CBD and Petone. Whether catering for meetings or delivering tonight’s dinner, PACE’s swift same day / evening delivery services meant they could get Wishbone’s food from kitchen to mouths fast, fresh and efficiently. And their customers are loving it. Customers like Mark:
“Hi, I just wanted to make sure to let you know your food is outstanding and the quality of service is great in each city I travel. When I am not traveling I also enjoy the fact I can order in to my home, so thank you for great service!!!”
Specialising in high quality, well-balanced, chef-made meals, providing fresh food every time is intrinsic to the company’s offering. Meaning speed has always been an important ingredient for the food vender and crucial to their customers coming back for seconds.
So when they decided to expand to nationwide delivery in 2016, they looked to NZ Post to provide the solution.
With Wishbone’s website connected to NZ Post’s digital infrastructure, Wishbone can also offer a same day / evening delivery service to Aucklanders and Cantabrians as PACE is alerted when orders are ready for pick up. Auckland and Christchurch customers who place an order by midday will have their meals delivered, whether it’s on the next flight or driven direct by NZ Post’s couriers to their doors, ready to eat by 9pm that evening.
Elsewhere across New Zealand, customers in places like Tauranga, Tokoroa, Whangarei, Whanganui, Blenheim and Nelson have already taken advantage of an overnight service to have meals delivered chilled and fresh by NZ Post’s couriers the very next day. Here Wishbone was drawn to NZ Post’s extensive nationwide network, which offers them the ability to get to more places easily, efficiently and cost-effectively to feed their hungry customers.
No order is too small – NZ Post’s cost-efficiencies mean Wishbone is able to cater for orders of any size, Monday to Friday*, to a range of major cities across the country*. And the figures show that people are relishing the convenience.
Since their home and workplace delivery services have launched, Wishbone has seen a constant increase in the delivery side of their business. They’ve had five times more orders through their new website and 50% more customers aged 18-34 since November 2016.
Marketing Manager, Dan Byrne, says: “We’ve always seen ourselves as a Kiwi brand, rather than as just a Wellington brand. NZ Post is enabling us to extend our reach further than ever.”
With popularity rising, NZ Post is helping Wishbone lead the way in getting fresh, wholesome foods into the hands – and mouths – of busy Kiwis.
